Proofreading and Copyediting an Anthology
Author Name: Emma Ellis
Title of Anthology: First 5 Minutes of the Apocalypse
Client’s Requirements: Emma needed us to proofread and copyedit her anthology, which was explaining what the first 5 minutes of an apocalypse looks and feels like. Emma wanted us to ensure her anthology flowed well, everything made perfect sense to the target audience, there were no inconsistencies in the tense, plot, and structure, no repetitions, no English mistakes, and for her anthology to be unique compared to other apocalypse stories. The work needed to be returned to Emma within 7 days.
How We Helped: We first read through the anthology to see if the story was unique, something that is not yet out there. After confirming that it was indeed unique, we went on to correcting any blatant spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors and formatted the work to make sure the line and paragraph spacing was consistent throughout the story. We then made sure the tense was consistent and there was no repetition existent so that the story can flow well and be easy and clear to read for the audience. Lastly, we made sure that the audience could envisage being in the first 5 minutes of an apocalypse by using certain terminology and phrases to create a vivid picture when reading the story.
End Result: The work was returned to Emma within the agreed deadline. Emma was very happy with her work and is now aiming to get her anthology published. We wish her all the very best with her anthology. Emma was a very helpful and easy client to work with, which we are grateful for.
