Localising Emails and SMS Messages, and Copyediting Posters and Fliers

Client’s Requirements: Nationwide UK Services required us to localise their emails and SMS messages that were being sent to their suppliers, customers, and employees. They also required us to copyedit their posters and fliers that were being used for marketing purposes, to ensure that sentences made sense and were free from any English errors. It was also asked if we could make the text font, style, spacing, and colour appropriate to potential clients needing their services. A deadline of seven days was agreed for both tasks.
How We Helped: We started by asking for permission to see the content and structure of the emails and SMS messages that were written by the parties that Nationwide UK Services wanted to send their emails and SMS messages to previously, so that we could gather an idea on how the company should respond accordingly. Once permission was granted, we localised the ensured the correct pronouns were being used, the messages and emails were signed off appropriately, the sentences were short and clear, the sentences explained in full what services Nationwide UK Services were offering and what it is they wanted in return, and the text font, style, and spacing were all consistent and appropriate to the reader. The content of the emails and SMS messages consisted of explanations and discussions of their services and prices to suppliers and customers, responding to customers’ and employees’ questions, queries, and concerns, inserting any relevant links or images to direct the supplier or customer to a particular page, and promotional and marketing material to potential customers via cold emailing and messaging.
Once the work on the emails and SMS messages was completed, we moved onto copyediting the posters and fliers. We first read the material to see if it was correctly targeted to the audience and was appealing enough to increase potential customer traffic. Having spotted that some key information was missed out from their material, such as the social media information, website, and some contact details, we first included these in the posters and fliers. A few inconsistencies with fonts, colours, styles, and spacing were also spotted, which we corrected to make sure that they were all consistent with the rest of the text and were appealing to potential customers. Our final check consisted of spotting any errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar, which we corrected.
End Result: All of the work was returned within six days. Nationwide UK Services went on to distribute approximately 200 posters and fliers that we had copyedited, without having to worry about any English errors that may exist. The company claims that their sales have increased by nearly 15 percent based on the posters and fliers alone, which they could not be any more happy about. The emails and SMS messages were also sent out, and communication has now smoothened and improved significantly with their customers, suppliers, and employees.
